Incogni vs Optery

Checked October 14, 2026.

Short answer: both are excellent — PCMag gives each 4.5/5 and an Editors' Choice. Incogni is simpler and covers more brokers for the price. Optery is the pick if you want screenshot proof, or a free scan to do removals yourself.

Ownership note: in September 2026 Surfshark — the company behind Incogni — acquired a majority stake in Optery. Optery says it remains independent, with separate teams and technology (announcement). Both companies now share a majority owner.

Coverage numbers aren't like-for-like

Optery's larger counts include "Expanded Reach" sites, where it can send an opt-out request but can't verify the removal (PCMag). Without them, Core covers 150+ sites and Extended 325+. Incogni's 420+ is the automated-removal figure on every plan; for private brokers it also can't verify what's held, only that a request was answered.

Verdict

  • Choose Incogni for broad, hands-off coverage on a single simple plan.
  • Choose Optery if you want screenshots proving each removal, or want to start with a free scan and do it yourself.
